News highlights roll out of thrombectomy

The BBC have highlighted the roll out by NHS England of a new surgical treatment to remove clots mechanically called thrombectomy. See the news story here.

Local news in Bury has also featured the story here. Currently, the only treatment available is clot busting drugs, but research has shown that this new procedure may be even better, and provide those not suitable for the drug treatment (e.g. pregnant women) with another option.

We are currently planning how we will introduce a new thrombectomy service in Greater Manchester.
