Network to host event on centralisation of hospital stroke care
The network will be hosting an event to support other regions in the UK who are considering re-design of their inpatient stroke services to a more centralised pathway, where all patients are taken directly to a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit, rather than their local hospital. Evidence shows this can reduce the chances of death and length of time spent in hospital afterwards.
Greater Manchester re-organised services in 2015, and now has the best care pathway in the country with all residents receiving ‘A’ rated care for the past year.
