Reduce the number of stroke units says Stroke Association
The Stroke Association has been in the national press calling for a reduction in the number of strokes units nationally. The charity is echoing the view of the National Clinical Director for stroke Prof Tony Rudd, who feels that fewer units will yield better care.
London and Manchester have already centralised their stroke services to concentrate specialist care into a smaller number of centres, and evidence shows this helps save lives and reduce time spent in hospital.
